The Master of Medicine (MMed) in Minimally Invasive Surgery is a specialist surgical training program designed to develop advanced competencies in laparoscopic and other minimally invasive surgical techniques. Delivered over 4 years through hospital-based residency training, the program combines structured academic teaching with progressive supervised operative experience in minimally invasive procedures across general and subspecialty surgery. It emphasizes skills in laparoscopy, endoscopy, patient selection, perioperative care, and surgical decision-making, alongside research and quality improvement, preparing graduates to deliver safe, effective, and modern surgical care within Rwanda’s health system and beyond.
