The Master of Medicine (MMed) in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology is a four-year, hospital-based specialist training program designed to prepare physicians for the comprehensive management of musculoskeletal conditions and trauma. The program combines structured academic teaching with progressive supervised clinical and operative training in orthopedic surgery, including emergency trauma care and elective procedures. It emphasizes competencies in fracture management, joint and spine disorders, reconstructive surgery, and rehabilitation principles, alongside research and quality improvement training, preparing graduates to serve as competent orthopedic surgeons and traumatologists within Rwanda’s health system and beyond.
