The Master of Medicine (MMed) in Anesthesia and Critical Care is a four-year, hospital-based specialist training program designed to prepare physicians for the comprehensive provision of anesthesia and critical care services. The program combines structured academic instruction with progressive supervised clinical training in perioperative anesthesia, pain management, and intensive care medicine. It emphasizes competencies in safe anesthesia administration, airway management, perioperative patient care, resuscitation, mechanical ventilation, and management of critically ill patients, alongside research and quality improvement training, preparing graduates to serve as competent anesthesiologists and critical care specialists within Rwanda’s health system and beyond.
