The Fellowship in Colorectal Surgery is a subspecialty surgical training program designed to develop advanced expertise in the diagnosis and management of diseases affecting the colon, rectum, and anus. Delivered over 2 years through hospital-based clinical training, the program combines structured academic instruction with supervised surgical practice, including both elective and emergency colorectal procedures. It emphasizes competencies in colorectal cancer management, minimally invasive techniques, inflammatory bowel disease surgery, anorectal conditions, and perioperative care, alongside research and quality improvement training, preparing graduates to serve as specialist colorectal surgeons within Rwanda’s health system and beyond.
