The Fellowship in Medical Oncology is a subspecialty clinical training program designed to develop advanced expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of cancer in adults. Delivered over 2 years through hospital-based training, the program combines structured academic instruction with supervised clinical practice in oncology units, including exposure to systemic cancer therapies. It emphasizes competencies in chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy principles, cancer staging, symptom management, and multidisciplinary oncology care, alongside research and quality improvement training, preparing graduates to serve as specialist medical oncologists within Rwanda’s health system and beyond.
