The Fellowship in Pediatric Hemato-oncology is a subspecialty clinical training program designed to develop advanced expertise in the diagnosis and management of blood disorders and cancers in children. Delivered over 2 years through hospital-based training, the program combines structured academic instruction with supervised clinical practice in pediatric hematology and oncology services. It emphasizes competencies in management of childhood cancers, leukemia, lymphomas, bone marrow failure syndromes, bleeding disorders, and supportive care including chemotherapy and transfusion medicine, alongside research and quality improvement training, preparing graduates to serve as specialist pediatric hemato-oncologists within Rwanda’s health system and beyond.
