Kigali, Practicing at Teaching Hospitals
The Fellowship in Adult Nephrology at the University of Rwanda is a subspecialty clinical training program designed to develop advanced expertise in the diagnosis and management of kidney diseases in adults. Delivered over approximately 2–3 years through hospital-based training, the program combines structured academic teaching with supervised clinical practice in nephrology units, including exposure to hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. It emphasizes competencies in the management of acute and chronic kidney disease, electrolyte and acid–base disorders, hypertension, and renal complications of systemic diseases, alongside training in clinical decision-making, research, and quality improvement, preparing graduates to serve as specialist nephrologists within Rwanda’s health system and beyond.
