The Fellowship in Adult Pulmonology is a subspecialty clinical training program designed to develop advanced expertise in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of respiratory diseases in adults. Delivered over 2 years through hospital-based training, the program combines structured academic instruction with supervised clinical practice in pulmonary medicine services, including respiratory diagnostics and procedures. It emphasizes competencies in the management of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), tuberculosis and other respiratory infections, interstitial lung diseases, and critical respiratory failure, alongside research and quality improvement training, preparing graduates to serve as specialist pulmonologists within Rwanda’s health system and beyond.
