The Fellowship in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care is a subspecialty surgical training program designed to develop advanced expertise in the management of severely injured and critically ill surgical patients. Delivered over 2 years through hospital-based training, the program combines structured academic instruction with intensive supervised clinical practice in trauma centers and intensive care units. It emphasizes competencies in trauma resuscitation, emergency surgery, critical care management, perioperative intensive care, and multidisciplinary coordination of complex surgical cases, alongside research and quality improvement training, preparing graduates to serve as specialist trauma and surgical critical care providers within Rwanda’s health system and beyond
