Practicing at Teaching Hospitals
The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Medical Sciences is a full-time, research-based doctoral program designed to develop advanced expertise in clinical and biomedical sciences. Typically completed over a minimum of three years, the program is undertaken through independent, supervised research and requires candidates—usually holders of a relevant Master of Medicine degree—to produce and defend an original thesis addressing priority health challenges. It equips graduates with strong competencies in scientific inquiry, clinical research, and academic leadership, preparing them for careers in specialized clinical practice, research, and higher education.
