The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Health Translational Science, is an interdisciplinary, research-intensive doctoral program designed to build advanced expertise in addressing complex health challenges in resource-constrained settings. The program is structured around the following six specialized tracks :
Clinical Trials
Human Genetics and Genomics
Infectious Diseases
Experimental Medicine
Therapeutics and Drug Development
Immunology
It integrates clinical sciences, public health, and implementation science to support rigorous, policy-relevant research that translates evidence into practice. Typically completed over 3–4 years, the program emphasizes independent supervised research, advanced methodological training, and scholarly dissemination, culminating in an original doctoral thesis that contributes to improving health outcomes and system performance in Rwanda and similar contexts.
