This school, occupies a unique position in the education of nurses and midwives in Rwanda, making a positive impact on the quality of the healthcare workforce in the country. The School is also aiming to positively influence the health care in the region and contribute to global health care development by producing well trained and educated nurses and midwives to serve in the health care delivery system.

The School offers diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Programs offered in the School include

Students have adequate and relevant exposures to theoretical knowledge and practical skills before they graduate, as they are required to manage the clients holistically across the continuum of care.The school conducts community outreach activities in order to participate in health promotional activities and prevention of diseases.

The school continues to work with different partners at national, regional and international levels, to share and acquire global knowledge and skills required for today nurses and midwives that care for patients around the globe.

Vision:

The vision of the SoNM is to be a vibrant, national, regional and international centre of academic excellence in nursing and midwifery education

 

Mission:

Our mission is to prepare nurses and midwives that will provide quality health care to individual, families and communities through innovative education, leadership, research and engagement in local and global context.

Philosophy:

We believe that in order for nurses and midwives to optimize health, individuals must be viewed holistically, as unique and interacting with their environment. Students must take primary responsibility for their learning through active engagement in the learning process. To facilitate this process, faculty must design education opportunities to build knowledge and develop professional competence.

Moodle

The University provides online teaching and learning programs through the Moodle, Learning Management System. 
Every staff is requested to upload the teaching materials online using the Moodle platform. Students get learning materials through the Moodle platform.
